Okay... so lets start off with the basic questions!

What is this thread? This thread is intended for collectors to post pictures of, and discuss a specific character and the various figures that have been released for it.

When is this thread? If it is successful, the weekly character spotlight will be a weekly thread. It will run actively for a week to give everyone a chance to snap a few shots or dig some figures out of storage

Why is this thread? To spur activity in this section of the forums outside of new releases, so taking a hint from the Fandom section i thought why not spotlight a particular character rather than a line... this will allow us to look at all lines and releases old and new and will also let us see some figures that other collectors own that we may not have seen before. This will also let designer vinyls, gashapons, highly articulated, and kits all stand side by side

Who is this thread? Anybody can participate, just post pictures of figures you own. At the end of the week the person that picked for the week will pick someone that contributed to the thread to pick the next weeks spotlight.

How is this thread? At the beginning of each thread make a list of previous selections (See the weekly Kaiju movie in Fandom for reference), make a title consistent with the other threads in the series (eg. Weekly Character Spotlight #X: Monster X) Post pictures of figures you own and any commentary you wish to share on them. Any kaiju is fine for the weekly spotlight (Gamera, Godzilla, Ultra, etc) but the more obscure, the less likely people will be to participate.

Unless there are any objections or if anyone has a suggestion to make this more successful (involving a poll or something) I can start up the first weekly spotlight tonight

I'm certainly game. I would nominate KG since he seems to be feeling the idea and has been active in the weekly fandom movie threads. It doesn't really matter to me who kicks it off, just as long as there are lots of new pictures to look at and a resurgence of board activity on a weekly basis

Do we have a lot of Ultra collectors on the boards? I know I stick with Godzilla, Gamera and Kong with a few other Toho figures in the mix

This thread sounds like it could be fun...

Should we start a poll this week between 5 kaiju, the winner gets the spotlight next week, which will also be the time that the creator of the first poll chooses the creator of the 2nd poll?

Basically, the film viewing thread's rules.

We can see how it works without voting and if we need a gritty reboot to reinvigorate the thread or if too many non-popular or obscure spotlights are chosen, then we can add it then.

I think that picking the person that gets to choose the spotlight from the previous thread will encourage people to post pictures or even comment if they don't have any figures more often in hopes of getting to choose the next spotlight. Which is my main goal to encourage more discussion and see more pictures.

Hmmm...the character that I want to pick (Varan) I won't right now because I don't own a single figure of him and I want to allow everyone that pre-order the 30cm X Plus figure to recieve theirs in the mail.

Let me think about it for a few minutes and then I'll create a new thread
