Godzilla Resin Kits

I've been collecting resin kits ever since the mid eighties, Kaiyodo, Volks, Inoue Arts, etc. I stay away from recasts, but bought a few by accident on Yahoo Japan auctions, my Japanese not being the best, plus they showed pictures of the original boxes on the auctions. A couple were almost exact copies of the originals, a couple were total junk made of some super cheap stinky resin that wasn't meant to be used for kits.
I've never bought any of the prepainted ones because I new they were recasts.
My favorite kits I own are my Inoue Arts KK vs Godzilla at Atami Castle, the Murakama "Sleeping Kong" and Daimos Godzilla 62 with base that attaches to the sleeping Kong kit, and the Inoue Arts KK vs Godzilla "Tree Sandwich".

Okay, opening myself up to some hate, here.

I have . Overall, I think it was a decent deal. It isn't perfect, but it is not as terrible as other I've seen. The quality is inconsistent, though. Seems like even from the same seller, the painting and hole-peg assembly varies a lot. I had to do a lot of delicate cleanup, and it still isn't perfect. The one thing I'd really like to do, is fix the eyes, though. Still, I think it's pretty great.

The kits you're looking at are not ones I would go for. They really didn't seem to come out of the casts well. But to top that, some are still available! It's one thing to put out recasts of an ancient kit that is very expensive, very rare, and no longer in production, but I couldn't justify picking up a copy of a current kit... especially when the recasts suck so hard.

I have a few resin kits I purchased raw and hired Bill Jones to build. They turned out fantastic, but were all that much more expensive. Side note: Bill's rates are great!

So I don't think you have to settle for pre-painted kits. It sucks waiting that much longer, but I feel it's worth the wait not just for the final product, but for an honest one... I am aware of the irony in two of these kits being unlicensed, but that's not the point.

Some other kits, however, I lucked out on and found in various auctions already built from originals. The T's Facto Ghost is one of those. I would say that you should exhaust all your options before going for any recasts, and even then don't give them a lot of money for it. I know that sucks of me to say, but there's just no way we can all find the original Wrap kit.

So that's my convoluted, hypocritical theory on that...
