A question for Marui owners...

I've had this for awhile and have been hesitant to use it because someone(I don't remember who)told me that going from the original set-up of 3 larger batteries at 1.5 volts apiece to 4 AA at the same voltage could easily burn out the motors. So, can anyone tell me of any experiences you've had? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
