I sold all of my SHMA stuff a long time ago, but the reissues are good for collectors who missed out on the originals and didn't want to pay the crazy after market prices.
It's the same with X Plus, who is now in the process of reissuing several figures - it worked out in my favor because I now have the complete DAM line up. However, X Plus is at least producing new figures in unison with the reissues....so, yeah. Come on, Tamashii.

So... Has anyone else heard that the Shin Godzilla monsterarts will not be released in North America and be a Japan exclusive?

Please forgive me if this is an incredibly stupid question, as my knowledge of importing figures amounts to little more than ordering a few off the US Amazon site last year, but on the AmiAmi link it says " Orders containing items that are unavailable for sale overseas will be automatically canceled and the customer notified." Wouldn't that mean it wouldn't be possible to order the Shin Godzilla figure from there then? That seems like an odd ruling to have on a website that takes international orders. Surely most of their international orders are going to be things that people can't buy outside of Japan, no?
Like I say, apologies if I'm missing something or reading that wrong, it's just something I saw that made me raise an eyebrow.

That makes sense (and I assume must be the case, since nobody has appeared to contradict you
). I figured there must have been something I was misinterpreting there, since it wouldn't make much sense for a website that's largely about shipping stuff internationally to say "we can't ship things internationally if you can't already buy them domestically".

It can also be a case of distribution rights issues. When bandai started making new Star Wars model kist a ear or two ago, they were easily available on hlj and amiami. But then Revell, who holds the international rifts to produce and sell Star Wars model kits pitched a fit and the bandai kits were pulled down and haven't been available outside japan since. Now you have to rely on. Third party middleman or ebay if you want the (far superior) bandai models.
I doubt this has anything to do with the Shin Goji SHMA, but it felt somewhat pertinent to the conversation anyway...

Speaking of AmiAmi, I just tried to sign up but Chrome put up a "Yeah, their "secure site isn't secure" warning page. Is that just my browser being funky or is there something else going on?

So after watching Shin I still don't feel the need to go out of my way to acquire this MonsterArt.

If they do a re-release of it, I'll probably get it. I just want the first form.
Although I wonder if they'll do a "Beam effects" version that is blue with a different jaw sculpt.

Possibly one of the most divisive and controversial moves by SHMonsterarts, but sign me up. This is cool

That's neat, but it's something that I can easily pass over to save up for the (please god please) showa monsters they'll eventually have to release once they are thoroughly and completely done wringing all the possible designs out of the Heisei era. I mean, they've got to move on eventually, right? Right?
