A new MonsterArt has just been announced and as you could probably already see from the picture below, IT'S ANOTHER GOD DAMN HEISEI REPAINT!! Not just that, but ANOTHER Godzilla!!

I'm not liking those smoke effects. Is it the same sculpt? I was really thinking they'd do an SSS Desugoji

I love the idea of the smoke effects, but the final result seems iffy... I think you could probably achieve the look better by just pulling apart some cotton balls and sticking them on him. Even though the first release is actually accurate to the suit, I do like the look of all orange spikes down the tail instead of the (technically correct) white spines.

But yeah, a rather disappointing re-release overall.

Amazon just had 12 MKG up for $30. There all gone now sadly.

I've decided to cancel my GMK order at BBTS. Not becasue I decided I don't want him, but my buying all of this X-Men stuff made my girlfriend want to get the Age of Apocalypse series, so I used my GMK money to get her the AoA Omnibus. I've still got my preorder at Amazon, so hopefully it won't reach there for at least another month.

I wonder if it has anything to do with their relationship with Sakai. All his X-plus releases have been gojis as well.

I didn't say that at all. He has done fantastic kits of other characters from the franchise, but 80% is Gojis.

I own the Godzilla Dream Yuji Sakai book, full of beautiful shots of most (if not all) of his sculptures. Not sure where the book is at the moment, but I know there are some Final Fantasy creatures in there. He does damn fine work, and I'd be ok with a line full of Godzilla's if he's at the helm.

That's not what I meant. I know he's done other KAIJU (hence why I originally said "outside of Godzilla/kaiju?"). I meant has he done anything other THAN kaiju?

I don't understand. Why would you want to sculpt anything other than Godzilla or Kaiju?

::edit:: flipped through the Yuji Sakai "Godzilla Dream" book last night. As the cover would suggest is mostly Godzilla related. There are plenty of diorama elements that he sculpted (buildings, rubble, water, mountains, rocks, spaceships, lasers) but I only saw one human (Eiji Tsuburaya) and the FF stuff GiganGoji mentioned
