Far East Monsters -Update - Out of business?

Postby Legacy_Of_Gamera » Tue Mar 31, 2009 7:01 pm

Hey everyone,

So I was wondering when Far East Monsters would update their site with the Mothra / Rodan diorama they were planning, and if you go to their site, you get this message ... http://fareastmonsters.com/

So does that mean they are out of business? I've e-mailed them but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

It's not surprising at all. Like sachiel said, in these economic times, things are very difficult for everyone.

I, too, would have liked to see how the rest of the Destroy All Monsters line turned out. I really didn't like the sculpts, but it would have been interesting to see how Far East Monsters would have designed the rest of the monsters for the diorama.

That really suks but, I can't say I didn't see it coming. Offering the Godzillas from the DAM line for $18 on eBay worried me. I really would have liked to have seen the rest of the line. Especially Gorosaurus and Manda

Yah I don't know why the quality of the figures we get over here is so abysmal...I wanted to like these figures but the sculpts just didn't do it for me. Not being able to produce actual figures certainly hurt their revenue and the long lag time between the mini statuetes/ diorama pieces make it hard for all but the most hardcore fans to stay intrested.

A thought just occured to me that this might be an April Fools joke. Considering that like I said that I have been checking that site fairly regularly recently and today of all days that image comes up? Here's hoping...

Well, it is official. Far East Monsters, as of March 30th, has closed its doors. I read the news in the latest edition of G-Fan which I received in the mail today. The article is on page 81.

It's really too bad. I enjoyed the two pieces that they already produced. Even though there will be no more future pieces, at least they work together as a unit quite well.

Thanks Tom, and all at Far East Monsters, for your passion in starting up the business and producing some fine collectors pieces. I know that I will always have a prominent place set aside for my DAM Godzilla and King Ghidorah.

Wow... that really looks good... and to think, most of the other dioramas shouldn't need any expensive lighting, so they should be a little cheaper than Godzilla and King Ghidorah.... :|

I did not like the Godzilla or King Ghidorah but that Rodan is superb. It looks like I may have to buy a product from Far East Monsters afterall. Finally, someone creates a realistic version of the "Destroy All Monsters" Rodan.
