Agin Toys

I previous had not ever had a problem with him until recently when he supposedly said he was holding figures for me that I asked him about a few months ago. I never said I would pay for them. I imagine he was just trying to bully me into buying them. A good amount of my collection comes from him and I received good prices on the figures, but recently he wanted a ridiculous amount of money for a few vintage Bandais. He demanded $285 for a 1992 Mothra larvae (saying it used to go for $500), $295 for Megalon, and $325 for Baragon. All he described as mint with tag. Some things from him are insanely cheap and others are beyond belief.

All figures I've bought from him were in great condition, vinyl and tag wise, but I don't have this kind of cash. As well as the time to spend talking to him (and his ramblings) long-distance on the phone.

On the subject of Steve Agin and Agin Toys, what are some other peoples' complaints about him and his services?

Those prices are criminal. If you buy vintage anything from Steve Agin, you're an idiot. Newer stuff he's good for, but I wouldn't trust him for a toy two years old. Those prices are laughable and I hope you would NEVER consider that amount of money for any standard Bandai toy, whether you have it or not. Never in the history of this hobby have those toys sold for that much.

I'm wary of any dealer who doesn't use his own pictures of the toys he sells on ebay but states in the item descriptions that the photos are "of mine." I call a big fat B.S. on that one.

Most (if not all) of his Marmit, CCP and M-1 auctions use official company photos of the toys, and not photos he took himself.

 Good ol' Hot Garbage at it again !!

I could tell some really screwed up stories I've heard about this guy but I don't want to get in to every little detail as there are so many. Man .. Personal dealings aside (Way back in like 96'-97) which didn't go all that well and then some AFFE incidents, and alleged stealing of kids toys to dishonesty to out and out Ripping people off, I gotta say say that Mr. Agin has built up quite a bad reputation for himself over the years. You guys buy your Godzilla stuff from whoever you want, but as for me and my friends we learned to avoid this creep endless ago. Can't believe he's even still around. Oh well.

I saw a Gomess from X-Plus that he had, but do you think he would charge a lot for it?

There something about that guy that's off, the tone of his emails are just weird. I also have a hard time reading his "All Monster Toys Attack" article in G-Fan...something is just off with the guys. Is it just me?

Guys -- I always get a laugh at some of posts on here about sellers "ripping people off" just because someone is trying to sell something for more than you want to pay. The only time your ripped off is if you pay for something and it isn't sent to you. It's a free market, if you don't want to pay the price he is asking, don't buy it. No one is obligated to sell anything at a price other than the price they want for it. If they want $350 for a Megalon figure and don't want to sell it for less, its their right, and you don't have to buy it. It's not wrong just because you can't afford it. By some of your thinking, no one should be selling anything for a price other than what you want to pay.
Do any of you buy from Yahoo!Japan auctions through Rinkya or any other bid service? It cost a lot of money to have items sent over from Japan if you buy through these services. For example, the other day I won a resin kit from Daimos of Frankenstein vs Baragon. I thought I was getting a deal because I won it for 24500 yen and the retail price is 42000 yen(or somewhere in that area). By the time I paid in Japan shipping fees, the auction service fee, and the exchange rate they give(which is currently only 86 yen to the dollar), plus the shipping to the USA, it cost a total of $409! Not much of a deal.

I have never purchased anything from Steve Agin, but have seen his ads and auctions through the years. He's had things I've wanted, but I didn't want to pay his prices, but again, its his stuff, he went to all the trouble to obtain the items and he can attempt to sell them for whatever he wants for them.
