Anyone know what Showa MechaGodzilla figure this is? Someone e-mailed me asking and I have no clue. Yutaka or Yamakatsu perhaps?

Could it be a boot? Doesn't look like the Yamakatsu figure at the very least.

That is definitely a bootleg Mechagodzilla. A few people actually own or have owned this particular figure and have discussed it before at Robot-Japan.

When it comes to bootleg, counterfeit, or knockoff versions of anything, not just toys, is making a product on the cheap that imitates or hopes to capitalize on the popularity and brand of a legitimate product. Cutting corners, keeping quality and costs to a minimum and even lifting complete designs from the original product is what helps to make these things such a huge business, particularly in China these days.

And for the record, this toy isn't brand-new. It's existed for over 10 years and was made at a time when Godzilla products did sell and had serious demand.
