 Wow this is sad. I got my first Godzilla toys and kits from KMH back in 1987 and have never stopped collecting since. I always considered Susan and Yuki good friends of Mine and then all the others that I had and have known that used to be employed there. (August, Arian, Dennis, ....) Yeah scored lot's of amazing stuff from here.

However .... even back in 1999 Susan confessed to me that her heart wasn't in it anymore and didn't want to go back and forth to Japan either. As anyone who's ever checked can tell you, they haven't updated their website since then either. And this was after doing the G-Con's in Chicago !! Anyway I guess it was just a long time coming that they would shut the doors. Another great shop for Japanese Monster Toys GONE.

I'll have to call and say goodbye.

I'll be attending the party... I knew the writing was on the wall about a year ago, when I saw a lot of their back stock on sale at one of the shops in Japantown (what cinched it were the price stickers that I labeled myself! LOL!)

About 2000 two guys from Santa Cruz offered to buy out Kimono My House, and Yuki turned them down... With the internet sellers as serious competition, overhead and employees, they just couldn't keep up any more. But, as anyone could tell you, when you walked into the shop for the first time, you could hear audible gasping.

I talked Susan into selling at G-Fest 2000, and I guess she did such good business, and guess they kept going for a couple more years. I remember when we were doing Godzillafest, I asked Yuki to be a vendor, and he turned us down because he didn't feel he'd sell anything. After more pleading, he eventually conceded, and ended up having a great time -- he even gave all of the guests little Godzilla lapel pins to wear! Yuki's a class act!

Oh let me add that I DID have Godzilla collectibles already back when I said (Early Bandai and Yamakatsu from a Mysterious Coffee shop in San Francisco that used to hang them up from the ceiling) but when I found KMH I got the Wind knocked out of me!!! I went Apesh!t collecting through them. Again it's sad, but they arent the first in the Bay area to disappear. The had a good run.
