The Vinyl Figure Awards round 52: Gigan REMATCH II
I admit it. I can't get enough Gigan. Toys based on this guy have been my favorite figures to collect. And that's obvious, because I've already done two sets of awards for him and in both cases the competition was pretty heated. I expect that to happen again, as long as everyone votes.
The Champions:
Needing no introduction, here's Marmit's Monster Heaven Gigan, released in 2002. Already a classic.
Previous standing: first place
Next up is Gigabrain's incredibly cool 1973 Gigan, seen in Godzilla vs Megalon. An awesome toy version of the somewhat less threatening second Gigan suit, this toy was released last year.
Previous standing: second place (tie)
The last champion is the Bandai Museum Gigan, released in 2005.
Previous standing: second place (tie)
The Challenger:
This incredible built up Iron Joe Marmit kit was released a few months back, looking like Gigan stepped right out of the movie. It even has full mouth articulation - the lower jaw and both mandibles move. Again, the figure shown here is factory painted and assembled, making it as much as vinyl figure as anything else in this competition. Will it win, or will the previous winner hold on to it's title. In this instance, I'd be happy with either.
