The Vinyl Figure Awards round 44: MOGERA REMATCH

This weeks rounds are going to have to end prematurely this week. With oral surgery scheduled for Friday I'm going to have to end these two rounds on Thursday. so basically everyone will have 4 days to vote here instead of 6. I'm assuming this won't be too big a deal since in the past a majority of votes of been in by Tuesday or Wednesday. And I highly doubt these polls will be as stressful as last week's, right Tim? Very Happy

Last year's Mogera poll was one of those rounds in which - while there were several nominees - only two figures ever ended up getting any votes. There's only one challenger in this rematch, but it's a strong one.

The Champions:

Bandai's classic Mogera toy, released in 1994.
Previous standing: first place

Here's Marmit's Vinyl Paradise Mogera figure, released in 1997

The Challenger:

As shown in last weeks Gigan poll, Marusan has recently gone towards a much more accurate, realistic look for their Godzilla figures, ditching the vintage-style, crude representations from previous years. This Mogera was released in 2007.

I'm giving the Marusan figure my vote. The Bandai figure was terrific for the time and although the Marusan figure lacks some of the Bandai's finer details, it's still an all-around better figure. The sculpt is much stronger and proportionate and the paint job is much, much cooler. Definitely Marusan's best figure, in my opinion.

For some reason I like the Marmit the best here...although all 3 look good.

None of these figures are perfect. They each have their individual strong points and their own different flaws. I went with the Bandai, but it's pretty close overall.

The Bandai gets my vote here. Digging the eyes.

Well, unless some more new toys start coming out, I'm afraid we may have seen it all for now.

What others do you have prepared for the time being?

Again, another tough vote for me, each one looks great representing one of the coolest Toho mecha characters.

I am such a big fan of the Marmit Vinyl Paradise series but in this case, I had to go for the more realistic Bandai.
