Well here we are with the inevitable Gigan rematch. You all knew it was going to happen eventually. Last year there were 10 nominees and this time around 5 new figures are here to challenge the previous winners. Lots of great choices here, so choose very, very carefully.

The Champions:

Image
Marmit's Monster Heaven Gigan from 2002, one of their most popular figures.
Previous standing: first place

Image
The Bandai Museum Gigan, released late in the line's life in 2005.
Previous standing: second place

Image
Finally here's Bandai's 6" Gigan. The original 1998 issue is on the left, followed by a 2001 reissue in the middle and the 2005 Memorial Box version on the right.
Previous standing: third place

The Challengers:

It didn't make it to the awards last time (I felt there were enough nominees) but here's Marusan's flying Gigan figure, released in 2002. This is the HMV exclusive, which has a translucent eye visor.

Image
In 2006 Marusan released another Gigan figure, this one heavily patterned after the old Marusan and Bullmark toys of yesteryear.

Image
Since coming on the scene last year Pilot Ace has released some interesting new Godzilla figures. They released this Gigan early this year.

Three Marusan Gigans in one round? Now that's a first. Marusan turned an interesting 180 this past year in designing their Godzilla toys. This Gigan goes for a more realistic sculpting approach than their last Gigan figure. Will it win the gold?

If any company has caught collector's attention this year it would have to be Giganbrain. Their Gigan figure is unique as it's the very first Gigan figure to be made representing how the kaiju looked in Godzilla vs Megalon. The black version on the left was a show exclusive this past summer while the standard Gigan on the right was released just this month. Can it take home first place?

I'm digging the Marmit Monster Heaven fig.

Going with the Gigabrain figure on this one. It's just too perfect.

This can only go two ways. Either the Marmit and Gigabrain figures will take the lion's share of the votes or the Gigabrain will take votes from the Marmit figure allowing the Bandai Museum figure to take first. I really, really hope that doesn't happen.

You can't fault the Gigabrain Gigan for not being proportionate. You can't fault it for not being realistic. You can't fault it for inaccurate paint. You can't fault it for not capturing the spirit of the character. Did I already say it was perfect?

man, these are some really tough choices.... there's so many great options this go-round. It's funny to me that the bandais are the least interesting figures, seeing as how bandai was THE godzilla toy company for so long. when the decision gets this tough, i have to really look at them hard & think "if i could only have one gigan EVER, & these were my choices..." Ultimately, the Gigabrain (the black/blue variant actually) gets my vote, but i REALLY like the newer standing & the flying marusans too.

I voted for the Bandai Musuem figure because it's amazing......

.... :puke:

You know, everyone has a right to their opinion, and I have no problems if some like figures from the BM line.....but why always the silence? Makes one wonder if these silent votes are just to spite those who don't like that line....hmmmmm....

Anyways, it comes down with the 2 best Gigan figures ever....Marmit MH Gigan and Gigabrain Gigan. The MH barely wins out for me because I have yet to see or hold the Gigabrain one (only have seen its pictures, which are all amazing).

Honestly, choosing between the MH Gigan and GigaBrain Gigan is like having to choose between Yumiko Shaku and Rei Kikukawa.....you win either way 8-)
