Monster Zero x SciFi Japan - Archive Only

I got two of them over the weekend at Frank & Sons (a twice weekly "convention") in CA. My son's nuts for Godzilla stuff so he can sniff out figures from 20 yards. We spotted these sitting on a pile of other toys that never sold in the 90s.

There was a Battle Armor Kumonga ($5.00):




And a Battle Armor Anguirus ($3.00 cause the box was slightly crushed):

We picked them up cause they were cheap and my son's B-Day is this week (that's not the only thing we got him - I'm not that cheap!). I had never heard of these releases and searching the web, I can't come up with much. Can't find much info at Club Tokyo beyond the line was a failure. And there aren't many pictures either. Especially of Kumonga.

So, did I do good? 8 bucks for some groovy toys?

I'd say you did good even if they cost you $80!

If there's little to no information about it, not even on CT, then OHH yeah, you did good.

Those are a couple of pretty incredible finds! Much of the Doom Island line was previously releaesd figure, repackaged with some extra accessories.

Someone once said this to me about a Doom Island fig and I was pretty sure I'd never have to utter it... I don't like you...

LOL! Just kidding! REALLY awesome find! I can't believe you got them for $8! heck, even at $80, you'd be practically stealing Anguiras! I don't even want to think what Kumonga should have cost, lol!

Go ahead and let him play with em! I never managed to see much of the TM Anguiras as a kid and this is a really cool figure! My only request? Some more, pics, please! I'm really into Trandmaster stuff and I haven't even seen these boys for sale anywhere!

You aren't gonna find too much about the Doom Island line outside of Club Tokyo. Basically, it was a way to offer up repaints and new monsters like Destroyah, Kamakiras, and the 2 you managed to find. It was real late to the market and only made it out in limited quantities, apparently most of it went overseas. I guess it was cut short by the 98 film and the subsequent disaster that followed. I didn't even know that the Kumonga even made it out! Congratulations! And if ya ever find more, be sure to let us know!

Cool find, cool pics. Not that this is what it's all about, but if these popped up on somewhere like eBay I'd bet they'd see one decent bid war.

Weird though how the little cards are mismatched...the Kumonga has an Anguirus card and the Anguirus has a Godzilla card. Oh well, not important. Your son ought to have plenty fun with these!

Aww wow - there's one flea market in my area [that's I'm aware of] and none of the sellers ever get in anything like that; most of the sellers are peddling yard sale dregs [IE stuff that could be considered garbage].
