huh, cool. I agree with the G'55 sentiment. At first glance thats what struck me too, but I quickly realized it was the '54.

Comparing it to the Neca, I think the biggest standout is this has more accurate proportions. I love the Neca and think it's one of the best theve done, but the figure's internal proportions seem rather off. It's like they took the lower half from a 6 inch figure and mated it to the upper half of a larger 7 inch figure.

At any rate its nice to see another Showa figure in the MonsterArts line. And it looks like they did a much better job than the '64 based on the pics!

What I prefer over the NECA is the flat matte look to the plastic. Knowing it's a retail release is good tho. Making G54 an Exclusive would be one hell of a sign of insecurity.

Thank you to everyone else that saw 55 as well. The head is dead on 54 but the body says 55 to me. I think Neca's body mold was superiro.

Anyone else predict that there will be a brown special color re-issued version of this?

I think the SH Monsterarts version is most likely more accurate, but the NECA version over-emphasized the proportions, sort of like a caricature.

I never go to that wasteland...

AS FOR REDECO POTENTIAL?

Probably IRL version color.

Everyone sees G54 as a stark grey and black design because it was a black and white movie. But the actual color of Godzilla 54's costume was a grey-brown kind of color.

So there's that! That's my redeco prediction.

Maybe they're starting to bend a bit on the "screen accuracy" like the G14 with the newer Godzilla sculpts? It does look like a less baggy, more fit G54. The thighs don't look as thunderous and his chest doesn't seem to protrude out as much as the suit did (or as much as my memory thinks).

But I'm fine with that.

That looks really good. I just hope the price tag is for a bigger figure.

Those eyes are hideous. Not everything should translate from suit to toy form.

i wouldnt worry about it too much Kain, think about all the times that they gave us derpy eyes when the prototype didnt have derpy eyes, clearly with their track record, there is a good chance the eyes will be painted without any sort of reference

I don't want derp eyes, especially for $80. They should have included an alternate head that had eyes the way he would look if he were real.

All I can think of now when doing comics with him is having him running around screaming, 'DUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUHDUH."
