I'd say you did a very nice job. The one thing i might've done differently is the eyes. I'm not really sure how though. Something that would better capture the "plastic bubble" look. Maybe a VERY heavy layer of gloss clearcoat, perhaps dirtied up a bit. I don't really know how to make it work, but the following link has some very nice examples on some of the showa godzillas (esp. some ofthe 62 & 64 versions). I still don't know how this guy gets the eyes so movie-like...

well, never mind.... apparently the site isn't there anymore, but i still have the bookmark... here's the address from my favorites, maybe he has a enw site somewhere? http://www.azothcity.com/KAIJYUU.htm

I've actually been wanting that Manda kit for some time now. But then, there's alot of kits I wouldn't mind having. Something about that Paradise Manda I really like.

Well, here it is, Kaiyodo's 1989 50cm release of King Goji, just finished...

From the right...

And to illustrate the size of the kit, here it is with a soda can...

I got this kit a couple of months ago off of E-Bay for a steal. It had no box, had been partially built and disassembled, but was complete. I had really liked the pose when I first saw this kit in an '89 issue of Hobby Japan and only had the opportunity to see the kit once in person, so when I saw this one on E-Bay, I put in a bid fully expecting to get sniped. Imagine my suprise to find out the next morning that I had won it! :D After the kit arrived, and I started to build it, I quickly found out why the previous owner had stopped on the build. The tail didn't come close to fitting correctly...so after cutting about 2 to 2 1/2" off of the bottom of the tail where it met the body, I finally got the stance right. Actually, even though I love the pose, I found the sculpt to be a little lacking to my eye, so, and I'm sure there will be those who think it was a sin, I altered it to my taste. Mainly this amounted to adding scales on the body folds and knees, plus, even though the claws on the actual suit were pretty rough, I like my Godzilla's with sharp talons, so I also defined and smoothed these out. I also took a little artistic license with the color, going for more of a publicty photo look, but I think it looks okay. Anyhooo...I know this is probably the rarest kit I'll ever own, I hope I did it justice... :)

Because you asked for it!!!!....

Thanks for the comments, guys! And to John, here's about the best I'm probably going to be able to do until I get a tri-pod. I could get a clear picture if I used the flash, but unfortunately,I've found that the flash greatly distorts the colors of the kits. Plus my photography skills are somewhat lacking  . Anyway, I hope this head shot helps out.

Here's some pics of my Billiken Godzilla '75 i built a few years ago.

Some of the shots make him look a little too blue, & the gloss coat on the eyes, claws, & teeth doesn't always look right in the flash, but otherwise. that's pretty much what he looks like in person. I wish he weren't quite as shiny. I'm still trying to find a flat acrylic clear coat that really is FLAT. But overall i was happy with how he turned out. it was my first (&, so far, only completed) Godzilla model.

There have been some new and interesting kits turning up on Yahoo Japan lately.

This GMK Godzilla just looks so fierce. It looks like a big kits too. Very expensive so it must be.

I wish I could do these Diorama displays cause this one looks great.

This one has alot of pictures and it's amazing how using a simple Kaiyodo figure can make a great diorama.
