I mentioned I got the Plaque off Yahoo Japan. I got the Gamera from there too. I rarely look on eBay anymore. Once in a while, though I almost never bid. I have a hard time trusting anyone there, unless its someone I know personally. Plus, I don't use Paypal. I don't like to use my credit card or bank account for the hobby. I can spend hours searching though Yahoo Japan. I love looking at toys. If I see something I don't know what it is, I'll e-mail the auction to my dealer and he'll translate for me. As for buying, the most important thing is who you know and build a good reputation. yeah, my reputation has been trashed at a number of places. I had one guy tell me he was going to dig my grave and no one will ever sell to me. Well, that guy must've fell in that grave cause I haven't heard from him in years. But my dealer knows I'm going to pay him for whatever item he gets for me and if he gets something that I don't want, he's cool about it. But I always pay up on the auctions he bids on. Funny, right now I'm waiting on the Gamera DVD Box set and it got sent to my dealers partner in San Diego. I was worried I won't get it, but my dealer told me his partner said " he knows who I am and not to worry" so that was cool. I actually met up with Funnyara last week, who is probably the number one dealer in Japan and we got to chat. I asked him why he don't do G-Fest and he said "all the dealers at the show would get upset if he showed up" cause he would take all the business away. So we laughed about that. So do what I've done, go to shows, even if it's a local comic show, meet dealers, tell them what you're interested in, and see what they can do for you. Dealers need the customers and you must pay them when they get your stuff. Once you build a good reputaion, your dealer will give you a few breaks, since he need to keep you as a customer. That's the simple secret to building a collection. Well, it does help to have money too.
