Well as I understand it they don't have a license to make "figures", they have a license to make "vinyl model kits", which get assembled and painted and sold in a way that effectively makes them "soft vinyl figures" but they're able to get away with it because of the technicalities.

Plus, it's really two different technologies and they'd probably have to hire new artists and completely change their manufacturing setup... right now it's basically "sculpt a fig, break it down, cast in vinyl" and it's pretty forgiving on the joints (and in fact a lot of the figs I have are kinda "wonky" at the joints). Articulated figures, it seems to me, would require more engineering and a completely different (and less forgiving) manufacturing process.

And from what I understand from Tony's earlier posts over the years, the owner of YMSF has other investments and business endeavors going on and making these figs isn't his first priority anyway... I think, if we keep getting new figs at all, they're gonna stay in this general "vinyl model" form... I'm just afraid that these particular figs might sell poorly enough that the owner might just pull the plug on future figures.

To add to what Mysterio said, they're not even sold as fully-painted and complete figures in Japan. The closest I've seen to that is a Japanese store that got some exclusive assembled, but unpainted, Y-MSF figures. A pink G'67 was one of them, I believe. They're only able to come out the way we see them because they're painted and then exported to the States.

Well, there's some cool looking Y-MSF figures. One of the few figures I've kept is the Godzilla from Sea Monster. Though the pink fins are less to be desired, the figure itself is awesome!!

Speaking of the pink fins... is there a type of blue model paint that would look close to Godzilla's breath? I'm thinking about painting them eventually.
