I won two ebay auctions recently for some Iwakura items. I probably paid too much, but my birthday is coming up so I gave in on the impulse bid to make sure I won the auctions.

I had been actively hunting for a Gabara for quite some time. I really like that the base he has has the catapult board on it from the movie. DAM Manda I thought I would like more than I do. It's great, but its just not in a good pose where you can admire the sculpt/character. Although it does look pretty nice in the pic. I think the problem may be that I have him on an eye-level shelf. The Mothra, which was also included in the Manda auction, is a pleasant suprise. I was in the auction for Manda, but the Mothra here is the much nicer piece. It's a real nice compliment to the Revoltech Mothra I have.

The Atragon Manda I bought some time ago just to have a Manda representation on my little dvd shelf display. I thought I'd include it just to compare. I think I like the Atragon version better.

What set did the DAM Manda come from or is it one of the resin pieces? I'm only familiar with the Atragon release.

I love my Toho monsters, but there's something about Ultra-Kaiju's variety of design and color scheme that is oh so appealing.

Got the internet exclusive '68 Godzilla and Minya today. My thoughts are mixed, with one thing in particular that really bugs me.

Image

For the most part Godzilla looks great. The detail and stance really captures the attitude and personality of the suit far better than the 30cm version, which I sold earlier this year in order to afford this one. The battle-ready stance is terrific, and it gives the figure a lot of character. I don't mind the open lower jaw for the most part. It sits flush against against the rest of the mouth and pops in really easy when you heat up the figure with a blow dryer. Definitely loving it more that the terrible, misaligned lower jaw that was permanently attached to the 30cm figure.

Image

The little Minya that comes with this one is great and is definitely NOT a scaled down version of the larger version from the 30cm series. It's just as good though and the face sculpt is damn near perfect. I'm not the biggest Minya fan in the world, but I'm glad I got ahold of the internet exclusive so I could get this little guy.

Image

Now the bad news. That second jaw, the one that's supposed to give Godzilla a closed-mouth appearance. Well...it didn't work out that way. It pops on just fine and sits flush against the rest of the mouth just like the open jaw. The only problem is...well...I'm show you...

Image

Isn't the mouth supposed to be completely closed? Kind of a waste to have this second jaw if the mouth looks like Godzilla just lost all of his lower teeth. I was really anticipating a 1968 Godzilla figure with a closed mouth. That's how I was going to display it. Guess I can't now. Anyone think there's a way to force the mouth closed?

Dude that's awful. Try putting glue on it maybe? I dunno. Can't screw it up any more than it already is if you have a spare head anyways.

Love that figure. I mean, the paint scheme isn't all that accurate, but it's close enough (the blue) and striking enough (the yellow belly) I can't help but love it.

Yeah, and it's not like Marmit necessarily goes for accurate colors. I think it looks fantastic. I loved the figure even more when I realized the posture Goro's in is an homage to the

Yeah, the paint jobs don't need to be. (Though the few figures that they do matte paintjobs look great) I love how varied and vibrant their stuff is. It's a shame the Monster Heaven line is pretty much dead.
