Bandai's not going to worry about a line like the X-Plus figures that much. It's not as if that line is treading in territory other figures haven't done before, and high-end collector's only giant figures aren't in direct competition. Kaiyodo, on the other hand...

Story time: Bandai has almost universal reign on Kamen Rider merchandise, old and new. They've been doing pretty good work lately, too, especially with the S.H. Figuarts toyline. However, due to exploiting a loophole, Max Factory was able to release their own action figure line based on the American adaptation of Kamen Rider Ryuki (Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, a decent attempt, but I digress).

So all those collectors that wanted Ryuki's cast in Figuarts form was able to skip waiting on Bandai to deliver and got a decent stand-in figure:

You can tell Bandai wasn't happy about this. They didn't have the luxury of shelving their planned releases, but look at what a few hundred extra yen gets you in August:

That's the kind of rivalry and one-upmanship I expect to see in some form from Bandai with the Godzilla Figuarts line. It's true that their hold over Godzilla toys meant Kaiyodo was never allowed to do Revoltechs of Godzilla, King Ghidorah, or MechaGodzilla, and I'm sure that was good enough for a while, but Kaiyodo didn't keep going with B-listers like Mogera and Baragon. They went right for Mothra and Rodan, and even Gigan. This isn't the same game Bandai's played with 6" vinyls, where no official alternatives exist. There's competition for collector dollars now, and Bandai crushes its competition. It may take time, as Tamashii reps have said that Bandai does want to concentrate on Heisei first, but I think you'll see them deliver eventually.

It's the bottom of the barrel like Kamacuras or Varan that are least likely to be shown any love, despite our desire for them. That's something I see Bandai waiting until the new movie is out to venture into, at the earliest.

Just imagine if the Revoltechs were bigger on the 6 inch scale. That might would have made Bandai blink an eye! LOL! Like they said for a promotional tagline for the Godzilla 1998 film..."Size Matters!"

That figure was supposed to released in conjunction with GMK however right before it's release Bandai decided to cancel the figure and thus it was never released. I remember pre-ordering it and being bummed to learn that it was never going to be released.

I noticed alot of people are posting their "want" lists. Keep in mind this is Bandai were talking about. The have a knack for being unpredictable when it comes to their lines. Look at their Ultimate Monsters line, beautiful figures that showed alot of promise, then upon further releases it went down and down hill to the point where their last line consisted of the same character in different forms before getting canceled completely. Very lame. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is as much as we would love our Varan, Titanosaurus, and Gorosaurus. This is Bandai so I am sure we will be getting the usual King Ghidorahs, GFW Gigans, Kiryus, and GXMXMG Mothras. That is if we even get another line at all.
