Think NECA will have anything new to show off at SDCC next month? I'm still hoping for pics of Godzilla 84 (and praying its of the suit and not the Cybot Godzilla). I'd like to see a Showa Ghidorah, since they kept talking about doing other characters in the canon.

Maybe they'll surprise with a Muto...

maybe

So who is selling the 79 Alien for retail price? The only site I see it on is Amazon but they want $28 for it.

Well, I have now opened THAT door.

If you saw my post in the MA topic, I found the 79 Alien on Amazon used for $23 Primed, so I ordered it.

However, that is not all now. I was at TRU a little while ago to see if they got anything new for PR and came across a Hudson and Shot Xenomorph today. It was only $30 so I grabbed it and DAMN! these are the best NECA toys I have ever touched!! I don't feel like the toys are going to break on me even though I know the wire tail will eventually break. Hudson is pretty awesome with the standard articulation I come to expect from human type figures these days. I also love that he can hold his gun properly. The only thing I wish was different was having the helmet removable.

The Xenomorph, on the other hand, is mixed. The sculpt and articulation are absolutely gorgeous. I love the way the mouth movement works to pulling out the tongue. The bendy tail looks great despite my expectations of it and I love how it can move in all different directions. My only issue are the blood splatters as I was really hoping they were removable. Oh, the color is also weird as I thought they were blue, but this might just be what they actually look like were it not for LV426's atmosphere. Nevertheless, I kind of want to find Hicks now and a few more Xenomorphs to go in my case even though I know I shouldn't.

For some reason the second most common coloring for the xenos are a brown-ish color. No idea where that came from, the Kenner Scorpion Alien maybe? Maybe Alien 3 since everything seems rust colored. Either way I find it odd on the Aliens xenos, but not as strange as the red Genocide xeno. I know why it's colored that way but it's not something I'd get.

Meh, whatever. I just acquired 3 of them for $35 shipped from a guy on another board.

I'll try to get some blue ones in the future.

Well this sucks. I got the Hicks/Exploded Head Alien pack today and the Alien's torso snapped in half the moment I went to rotate his body. -_- So much for NECA using better quality materials these days than what I was used to. At least I only paid $23 for the pack and at least it was only the Alien and not Hicks. It's bs nonetheless and better be the only one that does that.

Well my NECA one has arrived:

Overall, they both have their positives and negatives. Both of their sculpts are incredible, and as stated, the silver highlighting on the MA one does show off his detailing better than the NECA one. On the other hand, the NECA one looks slimy and more like he did in the movie. My only real issue with the NECA Alien is that I have joints that are too loose and joints that are too tight and I have no idea why. His right shoulder is looser than it should be while his left shoulder is so tight I have to press down hard with my palm to get it to move. The bendy tail is both a positive and negative for the NECA one, but ultimately, the NECA one to me is the superior of the two for the head alone as the dome looks movie accurate as shown in this picture from the Alien Vault book:

I created a diorama to go with my NECA Alien figures, and while it isn't truly how I originally planned for it to be, but I do feel it captures the essences of the series even if it is not an actual background used. I also made it so that I can attach more pieces to it if I ever want to make more (or have another shelf for the line). Unfortunately, the figures take up a lot more room than I anticipated, so I'm not sure how I'm going to fit in all three of the Xenomorphs I have coming in here. Maybe I'll the broken exploded head one coming through the hole in the wall. We'll see.

In the mean time, here is the album with full pics:

And here are a few pics of the display:

Here it is in the detolf:

EDIT:

Sadly, my diorama is falling apart in some areas, so I'm going to have to rethink how to do it. :(

In the mean time though, I'm enjoying these guys a little too much right now:

I got my two Blue Alien Warriors today. Honestly, I like them better than the brown ones. I know the brown ones are screen accurate, but the movie has always shown them with a blue tint and they have always been portrayed in the movie's artwork and disc covers as blue.

Dr. Kain your pictures convinced me to get the NECA Alien over the SHMA Big Chap. Picked it up for $20 the other day. Very happy with my choice.

Yeah, I bought it when it was $39 and was still unhappy with it. I realized that after 4 days, if I had to force myself to like it, then I really didn't like it.

Anyway as promised, Aliens After Dark III:

EDIT:

So let's try this again.

Diorama 3.0:

Cool! I can only hope it's based off the 84 suit and not the Cybot Godzilla!

I wonder what those other 3 they have in development are...?

I'm betting the other three will be G'54, G'62, and Burning Godzilla. Unless they do other kaiju. The other PR kaiju also have me VERY hopeful for Otachi, Multavore, and Raiju,
