a few new (to me at least) items. I got the 14 inch bandai 1991 godzilla. AWESOME figure! This one is in pretty good shape. He has a few minor paint rubs on the tips of a couple of fins & the finger claws have some rubs, but none of it is unbearable. It is a 16 year old toy afterall! It came with the original box which was cool. This thing just dwarfs all my other figures (& i've got some other large figures like the 12 inch banpresto 1954 & 2000 Gs, & the bandai Tokyo SOS DX godzilla & electroinic kiryu) This '91 figure is just a bit taller, but it feels so much more massive! really cool.

I also got August's new biography on Eiji Tsuburaya. I should probably put my comments in the book thread, but it deserves all the praise & attention it can get. If you don't have the book, go get it! I've only had time to thumb through it & read a few items here & there, but i can already tell it's a great book. the layout is super nice & there's a ton of information packed in!

Mmm, blurry-ful. Gigan's the Japanese 6" I take it? Decent scores there. I still don't have that 6" Kiryu or Mothra that I wanted...

I got this 14" Astro Boy today at the Japan Expo at the Los Angeles Convention Center. I also picked up a Godzilla 1975 candy toy.

Yes, similar body mass as well. Showa Mechagodzilla's height stands out a bit more than Kiryu or Gigan, as can be seen on the Godzilla vs. Titanosaurus box, but otherwise works well too.

And let me tell you guys, "completing" my six-inch Gigan collection has taken far longer than it ever should have. Technically, I still need the half-ruined Bandai Creation version, but otherwise I've got the significant variations thanks to this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0199008446

Light blue, green, and now black. Ok, not the most exciting pickup, but it is my first 50th Memorial Box pickup, and at a great price given the rarity of the set and its current secondary value! Most of the black Gigans I've seen in the past easily go for $20 or $30 before shipping, so this worked out to my satisfaction.

If I could get the others at a similar price (well, minus flat-out reissues like Ghidorah or '54), I'd be paying as much as or less than others did for the whole set originally. Sadly, I think most of shado-x's auctions this time were flukes. Or maybe his lack of PayPal drove bidders away?
