I just noticed up at Amiami that the First Ultraman Act figure is up for pre-order for a late April, 2011 release. I wonder...has Bandai gone ahead and perhaps tweaked the First Ultraman's joints? The first figure launched June of last year. At some of the online Japan retail sites (like Ami, Hobby Search and others), the first Ultraman may show in very low quantities or sold out. Which it has been sold out about a couple of weeks at Amiami, but in the past they had some always in stock, had a few temporary sell-outs and then to "SOLD OUT". Yet why go through a new pre-order when you can just get the figures in stock and update your availability status? Why make people get interested in a pre-order on a previously released figure?
Thoughts anyone?
I had a high hope that maybe they would re-release the figure with a somewhat new body style patterned after the Ultraman Tiga figure design. That particular torso is quite similar (minus the gold banding chest collar) to the First Ultraman's figure design. There are similar proportions on both figures and the paint scheme could be applied easily. All you need to do is remove the gold banding chest color and make a new head.
One more reason I was wondering if it was getting a parts upgrade or something, notice the hand on Ultraman as he "shakes" the hand of Tiga. There isn't a hand accessory like that where the hand tightly cups like that for a convincing hand shake. All the hands that come with the First Ultraman are more open or fingers have spaces between them except the karate chop looking hands and the closed fist. Maybe that is the "right hand" for Tiga which was shared with the First Ultraman. Maybe I am just too curious about the pre-order status going on at Amiami.
I hope to be able to get the Ultra-Act Imitation Ultraman figures soon. I really, really want that! I saw these pics on the net and thought to share them for Ultra-Act figure fans.
