Zoids and the kaiju connection

OK, I'm sure others have noticed this....

Is it just me or do a lot of the Zoids bear more than a passing resemblance to our favorite kaiju. For example Gojulas Giga looks an awful lot like GINO, and Pteramander is definently Gyaos based right down to his tail!
