Yujin Gamera set

I've got some questions about this Showa era Gamera set and hopefully you all have answers.



When was it released?
Was it popular enough for a follow up series?
Is it rare? I have never seen it at G-Fest or pop up on eBay, though I don't monitor eBay enough to know that it never does.

A friend of mine picked it up for me in Japan within a couple of months after it was originally released and I consider this set to be incredibly awesome.

Any other information on this set would also be cool. Thanks.

I will try and get some pics of the set up soon. I don't remember if I got the eighth figure, I do have eight boxes with the figures in them it's just been so long since I looked at em that I can't remember. If all eight figures were guaranteed with each case then I got it, if not then I probably got a duplicate figure. Hopefully I can get some pics up soon.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful figures. I love the victim wrapped around his tongue. That's great. John comes through yet again.

How big are these figures?

The bonus figure is the black and white version of Gamera the one being blasted by space Gyaos in the first pic posted by KaijuZoo. The non-bonus version Gamera is standing on a blue and white ice patch and has no gray highlights.
