Miracle House/Aoshima's 1/48 MASER CANNON diecast toy!

Postby August » Sun Apr 22, 2007 5:45 am

Since this is one of my all-time favorite "mecha," I have been waiting for Miracle House and Aoshima to finally get this product out of development and onto store shelves -- two months ago, it was finally announced as reality in Hyper Hobby magazine. I can't wait to get my copies of these which will be released in June/July. Even more exciting -- there are two different styles available: "Type 66" is the Maser Cannon seen in THE WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS (1966) and the "Type 70" is the version seen in GODZILLA VS. GIGAN (1972). This is a toy, not a model kit, and no assembly is required! :D

According to Aoshima's press release: The masterpiece of Toho Mecha, the Maser Cannon, is coming as part of Aoshima's New Century Alloy diecast toy line. Just as with the original prop mobility includes a fully-rotating turret, with a ratchet-movement cannon arm, and parabolic dish. Additionally, the internal LED gimmick allows the gun to glow as in the original film, which is battery powered. Two styles are available, "Type 66" and "Type 70" and in 1/48 scale is 35cm long (approximately 14"). MSRP is 15540 Yen (approximately $130.00 USD).

Awesome, Amazing!!! Now if we can just get X-plus to release Gargantuas in either a 8 inch or 12 inch format and I will be
content as a little puppy.

How about 12" Real Action Heroes from Time House/Medicom of Sanda and Gaira? That would be kickass!

Wowza!! Yah, that would take the cake, although, suffering from gluttoney, I want both Xplus and Medicom to produce Sanda and Gaira figures. I'm a big WOTG fan and dont feel like shelling out 100 bucks for Christmas ornaments which are pretty much the only Gargantua material available.
