Anime Limited are one of the three remaining anime distributors in the UK. They also use the All the Anime brand for their web store and theatrical releases (they handled the UK cinema release of Godzilla Minus One). This buyout gives Toho a direct distribution channel in both the UK and France. Plus they've signed an agreement with Anime Limited's previous owner Plaion for distribution in other European territories.

Hmmm... wonder if we'll ever see Toho do any actual US/UK productions in addition to the anime/Godzilla they bring over?

Once the MonsterVerse ends I can totally see them doing an English language Godzilla movie.

It only took them a good few decades, but finally Toho seems to be realising there are parts of the world besides just America that love Godzilla!

This is pretty exciting news! I really hope it leads to Toho having a bigger footprint in the UK akin to what they've had in the US for years now, with more movies and merchandise being readily available here instead of pretty much always have to import everything from overseas. I wonder where in the UK their headquarters is going to be? Probably up in Scotland I'd imagine, given that Anime Limited's HQ is in Glasgow, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just change the signage on that place rather than build somewhere completely new.

Toho clearly is intent on building out their distribution infrastructure outside Japan, first by acquiring GKids for North America and now Anime Limited for the UK and France. After decades of Toho needing other companies to license and release their movies in those territories, those days are history.

We know that Godzilla x Kong: Supernova will be released in theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures, which retains the right of first refusal to participate in Legendary's Godzilla and Kong sequels. After Netflix's buyout of WB, if they can't reach an agreement with Legendary on the terms of a theatrical release for a potential 2030 follow-up to Supernova, I can see Toho replacing WB as Legendary's distributor/co-financier of that next Monsterverse sequel.
