When an underwater volcanic eruption tears up the sea bed off the coast of Ireland, two treasure hunters make the discovery of a lifetime when they encounter a gigantic prehistoric monster that’s been unleashed from the earth’s crust. After capturing the beast, the pair transport the creature down to London where it’s given the name of “Gorgo” and put on display to an avid public. Little do they realize that Gorgo is just an infant, and that his exponentially larger mother is about to emerge from the depths to avenge the capture of her offspring. As Gorgo’s mother begins her advance on the British capital, not even the considerable might of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces can stop her colossal devastation!

It looks like it might be a tad expensive to import, but given that it's region free and I never did get round to ever picking up a version of Gorgo for my collection (not that there have been many to choose from), I think I might have to order this!

Man, I'm not the biggest Gorgo fan and have the previous blu-ray... but that's such an incredible package it's tempting. Extras sound great and that packaging is gorgeous!

I will happily get this instead of Shin Ultraman this month!


Good thing this set will include a regular blu-ray disc, as I don't plan to buy a 4K TV or a 4K disc player.

My copy arrived and I have watched it. Gorgo has never looked better! This is a huge improvement on VCI's blu-ray and miles ahead of their old DVD transfers. The film grain is visibly clear and robust, with natural colors and very minimal print damage beyond what's baked into the composite shots and stock footage. This is exactly the sort of restoration that this movie has desperately needed for a very long time.

Gorgo has always been a movie I've really liked for which watching it has always meant watching a rough-looking transfer, so it's almost surreal to be able to see it now in such pristine condition. It reminds me of how it felt watching Sony's DVD transfers of several Showa Godzilla films for the first time back in 2004-2005, only exponentially more because this movie is even older and it took until 2023 to get this restoration!
