I'm blown away they're even including a reprint of the comic book series (which I think I own somewhere in my collection...). Arrow is truly going above-and-beyond for our pal Gamera! I was afraid that years of garbage-quality unauthorized releases from every bargain basement label around would prevent such a definitive release from happening.

But... do I really need another copy of GAMERA VS. GUIRON? (looks at Shout's DVD, Millcreek's Blu, Shout's MST3k set, bootleg KTMA-era MST3k DVD)
Well, hells yeah!!!

I'm REALLY hoping Arrow can get the rights to BATTLE OF THE DRAGONS/THE MAGIC SERPENT, it's a vastly underrated wonderful little film that needs an official U.S. release. I'm pumped to see what they're going to announce next!!!

^I agree with all your sentiments 100%. However It has been explained to me that Japanese culture in general has been conditioned to have more of a rent than own mentality when it comes to film and TV. It's not to say there aren't fans over there with huge physical media collections, but there are certainly fewer. Rental stores still flourish there, and of course streaming is Huge because of this. Not saying it's right or wrong, just what I have been told. Thankfully we also have diligent fans that are masters of the craft if editing media, to give is the best possible video presentation along with the audio we grew up with.

But all that aside it sounds t Arrow is going to make good on all things Gamera. We will soon know for sure

Yup. I mean, even though I only grasp a fraction of the language (thanks entirely to toku TV & films!), I would still absolutely LOVE to have stuff like the aforementioned Spectreman Bluray set (in the gorgeous full head case thingy), but good grief who has $700 dollars laying around to blow on obscure toku stuff? Not me, sadly. I mean I understand it guarantees collectability with specialty packaging and when produced in ultra-low quantities, but the target market is so tiny for such things over there. You'd think that they'd also spearhead entry-level sets for the non-fanatic; just the episodes on disc, stored in compact snapcases? Even then, they're still priced way out of my middle-class income bracket. Sure, I could buy them, but I'd have to explain to the Other Half where my mad money went, and then she'd eviscerate me when she discovered how much I (over)paid for a 'silly Japanese superhero show' - especially one that wasn't even in English!!

Speaking of... I haven't yet checked, but is there a street release date & SRP yet for the Arrow Gamera set?????? (Nevermind. It's 7/28/2020; $180 on Amazon. Diabolik has it listed @ $115.)

I wonder if one of them is "The Invisible Man vs. The Human Fly"? I'd LOVE to see that in a clean copy!

Speaking of... it would be sweet to FINALLY have someone such as Arrow obtain Secret of the Telegian and offer it in the U.S. with the rare English dub synched to an HD scan of the original color print!

^ Something simpler and stark would have been my preference. In the current cover your eye doesn't know where to go, as there is no clear focus or direction for your eye to travel. I'd rather that art of old Gamera as the cover, as it's not only a powerful image, but it's probably the coolest piece of art I've seen from Matt Frank, period!

I can't wait to dig into this set and it's months away! I think I'll watch the trilogy first and then go back and watch the whole series in order!

^ I think it was those two. I believe I read it on the Blu-ray.com forums a while back.

I hope we get all the old extras the ADV releases had. I sold those DVDs when the Mill Creek releases were incoming and always regretted it.

In a thread on Facebook, a few people shot out some ideas/hopes of what Arrow is working on next. August popped in the thread to say that none of the guesses were correct. The guesses were basically any Godzilla releases, any Daiei property (Daimajin, Yokai Monsters, etc), and X from Outer Space. He said the upcoming stuff would be different than the previously announced Invisible Man Appears and Invisible Man vs Human Fly.

Okay, here's my guesses:

- The Magic Serpent
- Keita Amemiya set
- Daigoro vs. Goliath or Ultra Q: The Movie (although if Mill Creek hasn't licensed them already I could easily see them doing so)
- .... I'm, I dunno. Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis?

You know, the Shinya Tsukamoto set coming out in April is already kind of a tokusatsu set if you think about it.

Seems amazon has already stopped taking preorders. I’m not very familiar with their preorder practices so, out of fear they may not reopen, I preordered from diabolikdvd.com after being tipped off by JosephGoodman that they still had an active preorder page. I don’t know much about arrow films other than they have a pretty great reputation and after what lhb said about the limited editions not getting reprinted in full once they sell out I really don’t want to risk missing out on this.

^ and the flying Gamera is the Showa version (that weird layered leaf surface) and the egg and amulet are from The Brave. It's pretty comprehensive!

Looks impressive....I really enjoyed that Dark Horse miniseries released way back when - nice to know that will be included as well. I love the Heisei films and the fact they will get commentaries this time is a nice addition.

It's too bad Kadokawa couldn't buy up Toho, release a proper Godzilla box set, and then fire all of Toho's top brass while they're at it for their gross incompetence. LOL

That’s good. I figured it would come back on amazon, but after what lhb said about reissues not including all features I didnt want to risk it. Plus DiabolikDVD has it for only $115 vs Amazon’s currently $180 (I’m sure they’ll come down too).
