Hi.

I just ordered the official Toho Blu-ray.

Where can I find an accurate translation in English? I would like to follow along while watching.

Here is a Google Drive to a downloadable .ssa text file (80 KB) of a King Kong vs. Godzilla English subtitle script. You can open it with any text-editing program.

This script was made by David Jackson and provided by Jim Ballard on the former Tokyo Monsters website, which is archived . This script was made to sync up with Toho's original Japanese region-2 DVD of KKvsG, so owners of that 2001 release or one of Toho's several later re-releases could use that disc and this script to burn themselves a DVD-R copy of KKvsG with English subtitles for personal use.

I don't know if Toho's BRD release has any additional logo screens at the beginning of the movie that might cause it to not sync up with this subtitle script.

That subtitle script probably predates the upload at Tokyo Monsters: I'm pretty sure my VHS bootleg I got close to 20 years had those subtitles. Unfortunately they don't really correspond to what's being said. There's a video here that uses an example from early in the movie to prove that:



A German Blu-Ray release had a newly translated German subtitle track that's since been translated to English.
