I'm saving this and the other films from the new 'Special Effects Collection' for Christmas. This is easily my most anticipated home video release for me in a long time.

A few days ago a very negative review of the THEM! transfer came out, but, as this review elucidates, they made the mistake of comparing against the DVD, which had a transfer that didn't reflect how the source material was supposed to look, like the Blu-Ray does. Apparently the DVD boosted the contrast, for one thing - and the Blu features THEM! in the proper aspect ratio for the first time in forever!

^It's book packaging with the discs in cardboard sleeves. Blu-Rays have a much tougher scratch coating than DVDs, so as long as you're careful with your discs they should be fine. I heard with the Hammer set (same packaging) that the inner box was in the sleeve a bit tight and people had a time getting it out at first, but once they popped it in and out a few times it was okay.

I got the single discs soley because I liked the covers featuring the original poster art.
