Odds are it's happening. It'll take time and I'm sure there's some sort of deal Fox and Mouse can come to, but when they do release it, it will sell.

I figure that Fox & Disney are probably hammering a deal out right now. Disney wants to make money, Fox wants to make money, and a new Star Wars blu-ray release featuring the original versions of Episodes 4,5, & 6 will be nearly as good as printing money.

Rather than timing such a release around SW: Ep. 7, which seems an attractive option initially, I expect that Fox & Disney will go for a 2017 release to coincide with Star Wars 40th anniversary.

I'd buy the terrible prequels if it meant I could get despecialized original trilogy.

That second article is just regurgitating inaccurate information. Part of the deal for Fox to distribute the special editions and prequels was that they sold back the rights to the original trilogy to Lucasfilm. I believe fox owns DISTRIBUTION rights to Star Wars in perpetuity and ESB and ROTJ until 2020. But they don't own the films themselves and haven't for some time.
