Seeing as he's barely 3 months old, it'll be a while yet, but I can't WAIT to watch this with my son. I hope he loves it as much as I did as a little kid.

Yeah that's ridiculous for a show that I enjoy purely on an ironic campy level

The price is essentially the norm for what is the new Collector's Market that is home media. Honestly, the cheap prices for Sony's Godzilla Blu's are kind of insane. Shout! would be charging $30 for them.

It is 120 episodes, so it's not that far off from where i would expect the price.. I was hoping the Blurays would be priced closer to the DVD price, so i may just pick up the DVDs

A brand-new movie is gonna have an inflated price, that's just the way things are...especially for family movies. The kids won't let mom and dad wait for it to be cheaper...also 3D. F*** 3D.
But a show from the 60s...that's largely based on camp value? I think I'd barely be willing to part with $270 for a complete collection of Godzilla blu-rays, and that'd be less than ten bucks per movie...

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed with the price. But wasn't The Star Trek TOS bluray set about this much at first too? Now you can regularly get it for under $100. And I even saw it on amazon once for about $60 (the box with all three seasons - really regret not jumping on that....)
So maybe the price of this will come down too? I hope so. I really want it bad, but I think $200 would the absolute top end I'd be willing to pay. And that's really pushing it. I'd love to see it under $100...

This is pretty much what I expected with the price. This show was on twice a week for most it's run. Even though it only lasted 3 seasons it's episode count is more like 4 and 1/2 seasons (or, if it was a modern cable show with 13 episodes, 9 seasons). Even more important are the rights issues that tied up this show since the inception of home video. A whole helluva lot of time and money went into sorting that out, and that's not counting what went into remastering 120 episodes and making special features.
It dipped below $200 on amazon's pre-orders a few days ago, and I expect it to do so again (especially once we get near the holiday season). Also, I bet dollars to donuts the series will be split into individual season sets later on.

Holy COW that's expensive. Probably because its just a "limited" run. But why? Fans have been clamoring for this for ages and now its only in limited release?
Oh well, I guess I'll have to stick with my bootlegs for the time being.

"Limited" might be meaningless ad-speak, or it may be that the first run has some sort of deluxe packaging or comes with a toy or something. This certainly isn't going to be a limited amount of units of the series produced only to go out of print.

Limited or not, that's WAY too much to be asking for 120 episodes. I'm hesitant about getting the Twin Peaks set and that's only $119. You can get complete series of other shows for around $80.

Hmmmm... it depends, if the no-frills version comes out soon enough I may wait for it, but if it's like half a year or something I'll go for this set even with the price. I've waited a long time already, you know?

Yeah, if I can get all the episodes for like $85 (feels like a good 'sale' price to me) that'll be what I do.
