Looks like VBG's Malaysian Ultraman Ace set is finally out!



The release has Japanese audio, with Chinese, Malaysian, and English subtitles. The English subtitles won't be perfect, but if they're to the same standard as VBG's Return of Ultraman set, they're still miiiles ahead of the Hong Kong subtitles we're used to, and more than suffice.

This show sucks. I'll hold out for Taro/Leo.

I've heard a couple posters on this forum refer to this as one of the best Ultra series, so i have been looking forward to seeing it. Is this a polarizing series?

Woo! Still don't have Return of Ultraman...maybe after the next couple of big purchases.

These guys just released Ultraman Taro, which is pretty much a must-buy.

Just got my copy and I'm enjoying the first few episodes, lots of crazy kaiju. However, some scenes suffer from EXTREME pixellation. VBG likes to cram tons of episodes onto each disk, with predictable results - Return of Ultraman wasn't so bad in this regard but with Ace it really shows. Also the subs seem even rougher than those for Return of Ultraman. Petroleum based industry is all messed up instantly! BUT regardless, I am very happy to even have the series available in the first place! I'm loving this one so far, can't wait to see where it goes.

Yes, Return of Ultraman and Jumborg Ace are comparable in quality, but Ultraman Ace looks much more pixelated with A LOT of compression defects. Probably due to including two audio tracks for the episodes (japanese and chinese).

In the first disc of my Ace set there is a problem of index menu in episodes 2, 3 and 4 (the rest of episodes and the other discs are ok). When I select any of these episodes, it starts playing in the middle of the episode. Could someone who has this set confirm that it also happens in his disc?

no dont have that problem, but when I gt to later episodes in disc 1 (episode 8 & after), there is an effect that makes you look like you are watching the DVD frame-by-frame, similiar to what happened on Discoteks early release of War in Space

Oh, I don't think I have the effect you mention. I contacted the store where I purchased the set, it would be nice if they could send a replacement for the first disc...
