If you know me, you very well know that I have a soft spot for KING KONG (1976). "The definitive Kong," I have been known to mutter on drunken occasion. Grodin. Barry. Lange. But that that is another matter/discussion altogether.

What no one knows is that I also have a soft spot for a ridiculous and beautiful Italian/Canadian rip-off of KONG '76.

YETI -IL GIGANTE DEL 20° SECOLO (1977) must be seen to be believed. I have been lucky enough to have seen this projected in Los Angeles at The Cinefamily. I hesitate to detail it for fear of spoiling. Suffice it to say that this film warms my heart in much the same way STARCRASH does. There is wonder in this well-intentioned endeavor.

The BIG new is that tomorrow it will be released on DVD!

I eagerly await my copy to arrive tomorrow. Hoping for a quality release...

Thanks for the heads up, MechaMinya! Please let us know your thoughts about the release. I was thinking about picking it up too, but CFS Releasing, the company behind this dvd, hasn't got many glowing reviews for their other dvd releases. Still, I remain hopeful for the sake of that giant Yeti!

My DVD arrived today from Amazon.

I am regret to report that this release is of sub-bootleg quality. Heavily pixelated. The versions available on YouTube surpass this. Sigh.

Avoid at all costs.

Depression setting in...

A total bummer...

This release is a real shame and missed opportunity because the film does hold some ridiculous charm. It is also a rare italian suitmation film.

Not sure why parts of this B production were cut out by the CFS company. I dont understand what is so this brainless film offends so many people that the home video company has
to trim it. I would understand if it was Half-Human or something; but I will watch a better version of it on Youtube for free.
