How do you organize your blu ray/DVDs?

I say this because my collection is starting to get to the point that I feel like I can't properly organize. I can no longer fit kaiju films into their own category, 80s horror into its own category, hitchcock, tarantino, vampires etc. So how do you do it? Alphabetize? Year? director? genre? some combination of the above? Or do you just throw them all in a bin and play movie roulette? You probably would. Savage. My movies demand order damnit!

Franchise or Director (Kubrick, specifically is done this way), and everything else is whatever.

Let's see. I've got 'em on a big bookshelf right now, a lot of stuff stacked on other stuff right now 'cause I need to buy another shelf so it's not as organized as it should be...
(From the top down) First shelf: Doctor Who DVDs (chronological), Red Dwarf seasons, Hitchhiker's Guide TV show, movie, and radio show (those are CDs, naturally) - misc TV series and concert films stacked on top of those
Second: Godzilla movies, Toho sci-fi films, Gamera, Ultraman, Daimajin, Yokai, ect. all kaiju related stuff.
Third: Kurosawa movies, Ghibli films, Guillermo del Toro movies, random movie box sets (mostly old Hollywood films) - random stuff bought in the past year stacked on top of that
Forth: Marx Bros movies, Buster Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, then misc movies in alphabetical order - again, random newer stuff stacked on that, including every Harryhausen Blu-Ray
Fifth: cartoons/anime - it's a mess, stacked from top to bottom and stacked in front of each other
I have a separate, mini-shelf that's all MST3K

I'm thinking once I start building my shelves this is the order I am shooting for Continent>country>genre>year>unless I find the director significant enough to group his filmography together like Tarantino or Hitchcock or even Kubrick. The Continents/countries/genres are alphabetized if that is not clear.

For the most part it's alphabetical order by title, but when there are sizable subsections, they are in chronological order.

Alphabetical for the most part.
Exceptions being that I have a separate kaiju area, and I separate my blu-rays from my DVDs, AND since I've bought a ton of blu-rays at blockbuster going out of business and those cases don't match up with typical blu-ray sizing, my blu rays have two different sections.

It's alphabetized. If a movie has sequels that I also own, I then place those movies in sequential order regardless of title. (ex. Movie A, Movie B Part 1, Movie B Part 2, Attack of Movie B (Part 3), Movie C, etc.) The only division is between animated and live action films - I keep the animated films on a separate shelf.
