Anybody familiar with this?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/r ... B00BPA2PBG
I never even heard of it till today when I saw that the new Ghostbusters Blu-Ray would be on the 4K format.
My interest is perked.

Neat, but I hadn't heard of this until now.

Just to be clear, even though I bought the 4K BD, the so-called 4K standard is still way way beyond my reach. - I watch all my DVDs and BDs with an old 21" inch CRT TV anyway, so there's not much differences.

I just noticed Godzilla 1998 came out in this "format" last year. Had anyone bought it? I'm wondering just how much better it looks compared to the 2009 Blu-ray. But wouldn't they have scanned the film at 4k back then as well?

Thanks for the links. I'll likely stick with what I've got. Throwing away extras for a very marginal video quality increase doesn't really appeal to me. If this were a Toho film, I might think differently.

Why the hate, man? Did it rain endlessly on your outdoor birthday party when you were a kid?

I'm backing jelly up on this. Its a terrible movie and it did crap on my memorial day weekend. Devlin peaked with ID4. Now he needs to just disappear.

Fortunately for me, the 98 movie is full of fond memories as I was in high school at the time and my assisstant principal was a huge Godzilla fanatic (half of his office was full of Godzilla stuff) so he took me to see the movie the day it came out. As such, I got to miss most of the school day. It was awesome and even my parents were amazed that he was willing to do it.
Sadly, that was the only time the movie felt awesome. As time went on, I started to like the movie less and less with each viewing. I ended up buying it on BD initially out of the desire to own everything with the name Godzilla on it. That ship has long past sailed though and I no longer want to even look at the movie. Not even sure if I would ever buy the MonsterArt of it if one were to come out.
As for 4K, the only movies I plan to upgrade my BDs of would be Alien and A Clockwork Orange, and that is because I saw both of those in theaters last year with 4K prints and they were phenomenal looking. Even better than the current remasters on BD.
