Kickstarter is great and works if the project in question is reasonable and something a lot of people actually care about, like the restoration of "MANOS" THE HANDS OF FATE:

For you, maybe, but most gamers are drawn to games they enjoy because of actual gameplay., not movie-esque cinematics. These kinds of things are rare in fighting games to begin with. If they're included, and look good (Marvel vs. Capcom 3), awesome, if not, so what? It's not a deal breaker.
"I passed on the new Mortal Kombat because it has no in-game cinematics"
"I didn't buy Super Street Fighter IV because there is no new intro movie"
"Why would I buy Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3? They removed the various intro cinematics from the Extras menu"
