Shout announced today that they'll be doing the Alligator People on BD later this year.
Man this year has been shaping up to be a good year for genre fans between Shout and Kino. Hopefully that's a sign that Criterion will do their Godzilla releases this year.

I'll get you alligator man!
(Never seen the movie: the trailer in Fantastic Dinosaurs of the Movies made it iconic to my childhood!)

Shout does it again with an announcement of Night of the Creeps. They have a deluxe version coming out with a NECA figure of Tom Atkins' character from the movie.

Anyone heard or read anything anywhere about possible blu-ray releases of
MATANGO or
THE MYSTERIANS??? I re-watched them again this weekend and the DVDs may have looked pretty impressive back in the day compared to my shatty old off-air VHS recordings, but boy do they look like dookey now!
Someone needs to step up to the plate and offer these in hi-def... that is,
if Toho has actually affected quality restorations for them.

I really dig how Shout Factory is including the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes as special features on these nice Blu-ray editions of movies they riffed.

The remaining Universal-International horrors awaiting Blu-Ray release are:
The Black Castle (1952 - Kino releases the similar "The Strange Door" in April.)
Cult of the Cobra
Curse of the Undead
Curucu, Beast of the Amazon (Unlikely, never seen official video release and not well liked. Svengoolie has shown it using a foreign video master so Universal might not even have its own scan from domestic elements.)
The Incredible Shrinking Man (Easily the most likely of these.)
The Leech Woman
The Thing That Couldn't Die
Not bad!
The list gets a bit longer if you extend it to films U-I released but didn't produce but I'm not going to go there because I think Universal has released or licensed all of those that they still hold (Hammers, King Kong vs. Godzilla, etc.) except for "The Shadow of the Cat" (1961).

I'd like to see Dinosaurus! too but I think Universal's involvement with the film ended a long time ago. (I think the rights are with Jack Harris' estate.) I had a GoodTimes VHS as a kid and I didn't really think much of the movie until I saw the Image DVD. The photography and even just the tropical scenery elevate the movie and that old cruddy VHS did a bad job showing that off.

Shout Factory has renamed their Karloff / Lugosi set as "Universal Horror Collection Volume 1."
That sounds very promising for the future!

With all of the talk on "The Joker" this past week, I'm actually
more excited about seeing the very movie that inspired the Joker character - "The Man Who Laughs" with the great Conrad Veidt, which is coming out on blu-ray June 4th, 2019, via Flicker Alley.

Cool!
Dead of Night (also from Kino) has also been scheduled for release only a few months from now. It's definitely one of the most underrated classic horror films; the birth of the anthology horror and killer doll genres!

I've decided to go on an upgrading spree on my home movies so I'm getting rid of a bunch of DVDs to upgrade to BD and a bunch of BDs to upgrade to 4K, my sister is having a garage sale this weekend so I'm going to be selling them there and with some of the money I make I'm going to pick up Kino's One Million Years BC as well as Jack the Giant Slayer.
