I really appreciate all the feedback. I already have an Xbox 360 that I won in a Christmas raffle last year that rarely gets used, so buying another gaming system was out of the question; I just don't have that much spare time. When I do find time, I'd much rather be kicking back and watching an old TV show or movie than gaming. Anyhow... I ended up getting a Sony BDP-S380. It apparently does have a lot of the apps & internet stuff. I know those here who replied, (as well as several friends & co-workers), recommended going with these options. Trouble is, I live out in the boonies where there is no cable and no DSL or wireless to reach me. I have satellite for my internet service, but it blows; every time a cloud passes in front of my dish I lose signal. Well, not really, but sometimes it sure seems that way. As such, I don't see myself farting around with Netflix and other 'Net doodads, since I'd probably spend most of my "watching" time looking at a frozen screen with the "buffering" icon spinning in the middle of it. By the time my area finally does get some connectivity to high-speed options, it'll likely be time for a new set & player anyways, so I'll worry about that when the time comes - if ever. Thanks again for the advice & info! I was still able to snag an almost-Black Friday level deal by purchasing a player & TV together this afternoon.
