WOW. Just imagine an entire collection of movies on one disc. That would save a lot of shelf space!

This will probably be the format they'll use for the next resolution hike once lightweight OLED screens in huge sizes take off in five years. Inevitably it will the same resolution as the current 4k digital projection in cinemas and be called something blunt like TrueCinemaHD. Annoying, but inevitable, Mr Anderson.

I hate screens being too big. It's just too damn much.

If it's just a higher capcity BD disc then current BD players may only require a firmware update to read the extra storage. I wouldn't worry to much about having to buy new players unless it's a new media format.

It won't matter because
A.) Blu-ray very nearly approaches the maximum possible definition that the human eye can perceive.
B.) If companies like Anchor Bay and Echo Bridge and such are still around, they'll still JUST port over crappy DVD rips. So, hurray, they'll be able to release an entire year's worth of their crappy releases on one disc, but you won't be getting ANYTHING extra out of it.

There are some (not many, but some) blu-rays out there that aren't much better than DVD, if at all. The Godzilla vs. Biollante blu-ray immediately springs to mind as I own it and I'm pretty sure I have better-looking DVDs.

I'm just hoping my 36" HD CRT will hold out 'til OLED becomes affordable...

If you're gonna get a Panasonic plasma (and you should, they're the best TV's available!) you better do it soon. Sadly Panasonic has announced that starting in 2014 they will no longer produce plasma TV's.
