Godzilla vs the Sea Monster was shown via the dubbed Sony DVD? You've got to be kidding me with that. I would have walked out of the theater and asked for my money back. Continuing to show Godzilla films at this theater doesn't sound worth it when a different theater would probably have no issues showing a 35mm print.

I believe the Gojira film shown was the 35mm; but then again, Toho wasn't about to show Mr. Takarada a DVD copy of one of his most important films, and he was in the audience at the Pickwick.

But yes, alot of us were really looking forward to Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, and very dissapointed to learn it was the Sony dub, which is...insignificant, to say the very least.

cuts

Postby Xenorama » Sat Jul 17, 2010 1:08 pm

the only thing cut from Megalon for the original US theatrical run in 1976 were the title credits. all that came up was the title, then the movie started.

I don't own the Madman disc, so I can't tell you what cuts there are in that English dub.

I have the Madman Megalon DVD and the dubbed version is definitely a recreation of the edited Cinema Shares TV cut. No bloody combat, no nudie pin-ups, no Seatopians getting thrown from trucks or crushed by boulders. It's done exactly the same as those bootlegs that have plagued the US market for years, except it's in widescreen with the Japanese title card and credits, because Madman used Toho's R2 DVD as their source.
