Haven't seen anything on these so I'll have a go at it.

After being back ordered for weeks I finally received my Heisei Gamera Blu-ray Box set. I had ordered the Daimajin set as well, however that one is still on back order. To make up for the inconvenience of having to wait Amazon Japan really went above and beyond by sending this from Osaka to Florida in ONE DAY! Haven't had a chance to check them out yet but in the mean time I took some pictures for you guys.

Still in the wrapper:

Unwrapped, with the individual cases out:

Like I said there is also a Blu-ray set for the Daimajin trilogy and the Showa Gamera series (separated into two sets which are sadly more expensive). If I ever get the Daimajin set I will post those as well if you guys would like to see them.

Be sure to update us on the PQ on both sets! I want to get them, but I'm not making the same mistake that I did on the GMK BRD again.

Here you go stompit. Additional pictures of the box. The text on the back of the box are the English-spelled subtitles of the films, they are also present on the cover and are the only titles present on the actual discs, a very artistic approach. The only subtitles are in Japanese (as well as language) yet strangely enough the menus are in English. The transfer is 1080p HD with Dolby True HD sound.

I had no problem with the fact that these do not include English subtitles and was aware of that fact before ordering. I am so familiar with these films that I can practically recite the English dubs from memory, so I already know what is being said.

I am in the middle of GOTU as I type this and, wow, the transfer is stunning! The image is crisp and clear with little to no grain and MUCH more detail to each shot. Looks amazing on my 50" TV and sounds excellent!

I just got an email from Amazon Japan today informing me my Daimajin set has shipped so I will post pics when it arrives.

And Shuwatch!, after seeing the transfer for GOTU and viewing the HD Daimajin trailers on Youtube I am convinced Kadokawa but much more love into their Blu ray releases then Toho did with theirs.

What region code are the discs?
I know both japan and the US are region A so you don't need to worry about that like with DVDs (were japan was region 2 and the US 1). But i live in europe (region B) and would like to know whether these are region free, reagion ABC, or only region A.

I looked all over the packaging and don't see any regional coding.

Got the Daimajin set today, probably will check them out later this week but here are some high resolution pictures of the set in the meantime.

Still in packaging w/card and an awesome 3-D card as well (this was also supposed to come with my Gamera set as well,I believe it was a store exclusive because I did not get one.)

The set is the same as the Gamera set. Three black Blu-ray cases inside a sturdy cardboard case with the English titles on the back as well as on the discs, inside each case is a folded paper that is about 11x19" and seems to be a news paper clipping, however it is in Japanese and has no images on it so I have no clue what it could be (it's pictured as a special feature on the back of each case). Monster of Terror's case includes a a postcard sized promo for the new TV show 'Daimajin Kanon'.

I'm REALLY excited to see how these look, from what I've seen online they look stunning. take a look at the 1080p trailer and see what I mean.
