Although ADV Films was mostly known for releasing anime in North America, they're notable here for releasing Destroy All Monsters, Daimajin, and the '90s Gamera trilogy. No idea yet what it'll mean for those particular titles (with the exception of Daimajin as they let the rights to those films lapse years ago). Full details in the article below.

Well hopefully the kaiju/tokusatsu stuff will be picked up by a company that will take better care of them. As for Anime I'm not a big fan of that the only title they had that I cared for was Blue Seed which I have on DVD already so it won't really effect me that much.

It must suck for those of you who do enjoy anime since they where one of the largest companies that brought it out.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for Sony picking up Destroy all Monsters if the film ends up going back to Toho. Sony's Godzilla films were all picked up during times when there was a bigger market for Godzilla in this country: GINO's release, the Millennium series and the 50th Anniversary. Meanwhile, the three films in the "Icons" set were already in Sony's library, so it's not like they were actively pursuing any more Toho films they didn't own. To release DAM, Sony would have to go to Toho, request it and then pay for it. And I don't think they're going to do that.

The contract for DESTROY ALL MONSTERS still has several years left before it expires.
