Then you owe it to yourself to buy . Some of you probably already know of it/own it but it's basically a compilation of three of his classical works - Sinfonia Tapkaara, Ritmica Ostinata, and Symphonic Fantasia No. 1*. They're all excellent, excellent works and I highly recommend giving them a listen.

Here's a sample of Sinfonia Tapkaara (and I think it's my favorite track on the CD):

Cheers!

While I don't have that recording, I do own all of the represented pieces on others. They are indeed fantastic; the rhythmic vibrancy of the Ritmica Ostinata and the form and sheer beauty of the Sinfonia Tapkaara place them among my favorite pieces of music.

In this vein, a CD was released just recently of some of Ifukube's piano works, including his Piano Suite (his first major composition) and world premier recordings of a two-piano reduction of "Joy of Fire" from the ballet "Fire of Prometheus" and a 1961 revised version of Deux Caracteres for Violin and Piano, as well as the Ritmica Ostinata, also on the aforementioned disc. I received my copy yesterday and can say confidently that it is one of the best CDs I own. Ordering information can be found

kiryugoji04,

Thanks for the heads up on that Ifukube disc. I decided to order it off I-tunes and I am definitely satisfied! Great music at a great price too!

Thanks!
