Well but they figured they would have needed a half-way decent "bad" movie in order for this to have succeeded in theaters. Anyone unfamiliar with the series would have been tortured having to sit through something like Manos in a movie theater. Additionally, using a Universal owned film meant that rights wouldn't be a problem.

Heh heh! I sold this and FLASH GORDON last year for about $80 each on eBay, as they were out of print. Now I'm able to buy both with the upgraded features.
