Akira Kurosawa, the world's greatest film maker and Ishiro Honda's buddy, made this movie for Toho in 1948 and the stars were aligned perfectly. This is Kurosawa's first film with the great Toshiro Mifune, and its one of the duo's best movies. If you haven't seen this movie (or any Kurosawa), you are truly missing out.

Criterion is releasing a brand new, extras loaded DVD of Drunken Angel on November 27th.

I can't put into words how happy I am that this beautiful movie is finally getting a proper release.

Goddamnit! Kurosawa is so expensive! Well, Criterion is anyway. Whatever, I'll shell out the money. "Drunken Angel" is such a cool title.

B5Erik, Stray Dog really is a great film. But not as great as Ikiru.

Besides Hitchcock, Akira Kurosawa is the greatest director to ever do the job, so I'll definitely be picking this up.
