From DVDTimes...

"DD Home Entertainment Ltd have announced their acquisition of DVD rights to a substantial library of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment film and television classics, many of which have not been released before on DVD anywhere in the world.

Japanese monster movie Mothra will also be a forthcoming guilty treat for the genre aficionados."

It would be cool if they supplied both versions of the film in a special edition release. I will probably be picking this up for sure.

Lucky Brits (I'm looking at you James) get the DVD before us. Maybe it's a sign that it'll come out soon on R1 release :D

Publisher Titan Books is giving SciFi Japan readers a chance to win a free copy of Schoolgirl Milky Crisis, a collection of articles and essays on manga, anime, and Japanese movies written by British author and scriptwriter Jonathan Clements.

One chapter of the book focuses on monster stars like Godzilla and Ultraman. Of particular note are Clements' never-before-seen liner notes for the planned UK DVD of MOTHRA which was canceled when video company DD Home Entertainment Ltd. went out of business in 2007.

More info and complete contest details are now on SFJ:

The planned DD Home Entertainment release fell through years ago (I seem to recall because they went out of business), but it looks like Mothra was eventually released by Columbia/Sony in 2015.

They really snuck that one past me since I already have the US release from the Icons of Sci-fi collection. It's good news for any UK kaiju fans without a region-free DVD player though.

Oddly, the Amazon reviews seem to have been merged with ones for the Icons of Sci-fi collection, since some mention The H-Man and Battle in Outer Space.
