GET SET TO GORGE ON GODZILLA!

Two Classic Godzilla Films to be Released on DVD November 7th for the Ultimate Experience in Monster Movie Mayhem

Following the Release of the Japanese Original Gojira, Godzilla Returns to Battle Two New Enemies

NEW YORK, NY – July 25, 2006 – This fall, following the highly anticipated release of Gojira, the original Japanese version of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Classic Media will release two additional Godzilla films on DVD, Godzilla Raids Again and Mothra vs. Godzilla. Godzilla is back -- but this time he’s not alone! The gargantuan prehistoric beast battles two new monsters and, once again, threatens the future of Japan. Each title will include both the original Japanese and US versions of the films. The Godzilla DVDs are available on November 7th for $19.98 SRP each.

Godzilla Raids Again

This sequel to the original and hugely successful Godzilla was rushed to the theaters six months after the release of the first film. Two new monsters emerged: the first similar to the original Godzilla that was killed by the oxygen destroyer in the first film, and also named Godzilla, the second a spiny dinosaur called Anguirus. The massive battle begins on Iwato Island, tumbles into the ocean, and resurfaces on Osaka, threatening to level the city under the monsters’ rage.

Mothra vs. Godzilla aka Godzilla vs. The Thing

Originally released in the US as Godzilla vs. The Thing, this fourth installment in the Godzilla series is considered by many fans as one of the best of the series. When a giant egg washes up on the shores of Tokyo after a typhoon, greedy businessmen seize the opportunity to exhibit the item at an amusement park for profit. The shobijin, fairies from Infant Island, come to plea for the egg’s return to its rightful owner, Mothra, but the men refuse the request. Soon Godzilla awakens and begins a trek across Tokyo, heading straight for Mothra’s egg. Can Mothra save her offspring from the destruction of Godzilla? Can Tokyo survive this epic monster battle?

Special features available on both DVDs include audio commentaries and English subtitles for the Japanese version. For more information, check out http://www.godzillaondvd.com.

The DVD specs sound great, I'm really looking forward to the featurettes. Pity the US trailers won't be on there though. :(

The 4X3 (1.33:1) for MOTHRA VS GODZILLA was my mistake; I copied the wrong line of text when pasting the text.

The Japanese version of the film came from Toho and is in the original, correct aspect ratio. CM is using a 16x9 copy of the US version because it's the highest quality version they have...they passed on another version because it was missing footage.

Extremely disappointing that "Godzilla Vs. The Thing" is cropped... what exactly was missing?

Now, Keith, I'm sure you'll probably getting tired of the same questions be brought up over and over again like a broken record player....But, will there be US trailers for the movies? This leads to another question? Wasn't the original Japanese trailer of GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN ''destroyed''. Maybe I'm not making much sense, but the R2 DVD NEVER featured a the theaterical trailer.

I knew about the Aspect Ratio of MvG, so that doesn't surprise me. What does is these are both single layer discs. We're looking at roughly 80 minutes per version per film on GRA and 90 minutes per version per film for MvG.

That makes

GRA - roughly 2 Hours 40 Minutes of video for the features, a Japanese Audio track, an English audio track, two commentaries + extras.

MvG - just under 3 hours of video for the features, a Japanese Audio track, an English audio track, two commentaries + extras.

Keith are you sure these are not on double layer discs?
