Yes... yes I will be buying this. I dont care if the movie is already long, more Kong action is always good in my book. And it'll be great seeing the monster fights and the raft scene that had to be cut out.

I want them to cut stuff out. Not put stuff back in. It was a good movie, but if they had cut about 30 minutes from the film it could've been a great movie. The quick pacing of the original film really made me think to myself, "This just isn't a story that should take 3 hours to tell.."

Still, I'll probably pick this edition up for the new SFX.

I could hardly sit through 3 hours of this in the theater! I'll stick with the 1933 original, thanks.

$35 is the reason God inspired man to create DVD burners....

what would be cool would be the 13 minutes of new footage (presumably it's all 'on the island' stuff, more monsters, etc) while ALSO cutting out half an hour or more from the first part of the movie up to the island...

this is going to be worth a blockbuster night and an extra 45 minutes in my computer, but that's about it....

Wow, looks like it's gonna be a great set. I'll be picking it up. :color:

But.... WHERE'S THE DTS TRACK!!!!????

Even though the movie is spread out over two discs, it would be better if they put the extras all on the third disc (leaving more room for a DTS track, plus more room for video bitrate).

Jackson's remake was good, but yes, very long.

Some studios release both a minimal and extended version at the same time, giving you a choice right away. But as Gfan54 rightly stated, Universal is trying to get all they can with this production.
