How reliable is Deep Discount these days? I recall reading how some folks got their discs early from them. And others waiting weeks.

I ask because their price for Gorgo is hard to beat...

Good news and bad news.

The good news. This is the best that Gorgo has ever looked.

The bad news. The best Gorgo has ever looked is still not very good.

PQ varies wildly. Some scenes have a nice "pop" to them and color is much more vivid than I've ever seen it before. Detail is never very good, though, and grain is ever present, sometimes in rather extreme amounts. The use of stock footage in certain scenes is painfully obvious. Contrast and color levels are all over the map. Oddly, the non-process FX scenes seem to be the best looking footage in the film. That is a positive

There is a scratch running down the extreme right side of the picture for part of the running time.

Just jumping from chapter to chapter at this point so these are just initial impressions.

I haven't thoroughly gone through it, but here's a quick rundown of the special features:

The menu screen is set up like a vintage lobby card. Audio included 2.0 English and French, and awesomely a "music & effects" track! English subtitles are included. Extras include the original theatrical trailer (2:28), Gorgo The Monster From The Sea! Comic (34:02), lobby card and poster gallery (05:40), toys and collectables (2:56), "Ninth Wonder of the World: The Making of Gorgo" a New Documentary by Daniel Griffith (31:08), pressbook gallery (01:51), original product notes (02:03); Star Cine Cosmos "Fumetto" Comic (40:41), photo gallery (02:12), before & after restoration (02:52).

Mine arrived today(a day early, yay!), and I also got an email from Amazon saying they're going to refund me $5 because of the price drop.
